Hi, I'm Mia. I'm a 20-year-old from South London. I'm currently studying English Literature with Creative Writing at the University of Surrey, so I divide my time between London town & Guildford.

I started this blog partly to practice my writing and get it seen by more people, but also to give me something to do. I have a lot of opinions on things, and instead of rambling to my family and friends incessantly, I thought I'd write about it for everybody on the Internet to read. I tend to do that on Twitter anyway, but sometimes 140 characters just isn't enough - especially for someone as verbose as I am. Being an English student also means I have a lot of free time, so instead of watching videos of cute cats on YouTube, I should probably try and be more productive. Who knows, maybe I'll even write a blog post on the best YouTube cat videos..?

So, a little bit about my interests. I love literature (obviously), and tend to gravitate towards American fiction from the 1950s and '60s; The Catcher in the Rye is my favourite book, and J.D. Salinger is probably my favourite writer, despite his condensed body of work. The Beat Generation is also a pretty good era - Howl, On the Road, Naked Lunch and all that good stuff. Away from the USA, I enjoy the magical realism novels of Angela Carter, Salman Rushdie & Gabriel Garcia-Marquez, as well as a bit of Harold Pinter. And let's not forget that tiny book series involving some boy wizard called Harry Potter...

I'm also massively into Film and Television. I spend a disproportionate amount of my time at the cinema watching the latest releases, or buying DVD boxsets of my favourite shows and wasting my weekends away watching them. My all-time-favourite TV show is undoubtedly Six Feet Under - there's never been quite a show like it. Plus, Peter Krause is really, really hot (well, not any more but he was as Nate Fisher). I'm also a huge fan of Girls on HBO, as well as the obvious stuff like Mad Men and Breaking Bad. But I'm no snob; I do love The Vampire Diaries and Keeping Up with the Kardashians -- and before you ask, I ship Stelena.

This blog will mainly consist of movie and TV reviews, general gibber-gabber about the entertainment world, as well as posts about the latest fashion trends and things that I've bought recently that are worth checking out.
